Scuba Diving Top Spots!

We all love to watch the underwater world on our high definition plasmas at home, but imagine what it could be like to actually be there!  Scuba diving has become one of the most popular water sports of the 21st Century.  It can be relatively inexpensive to learn and it opens up to you a whole new world for you to see.  So where do people go to learn?  Well for some lucky people in the world, you could find that there is an Open Water Dive course right around the corner, but for the rest of us it does mean planning it in to our annual vacation.

Scuba Divers all have there favourite spots, but the ones that always come into the top three are – The Great Barrier Reef – Cairns, Australia, The Maldives – Pacific Ocean, and the Red Sea – Egypt. Continue reading "Scuba Diving Top Spots!" »

Welcome to the world of Disney!

All our favourite Disney Characters at Disney World Florida

It’s the one word every child old enough to walk knows, and the word every parent dreads to hear!  Disney World has become a world wide phenomenon – with parks in major countries around the world.  So no matter where you plan to visit, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo or Los Angeles  there will be a park there for you to visit.

However the ultimate Disney vacation  has to begin where Disney itself began- that is in Orlando, Florida.  In 1971 Magic Kingdom was the first of the parks to open its doors.  Over the next three decades, Epcot, MGM Studios (now known as Hollywood Studios), Animal Kingdom would all follow.  Disney World Orlando really has become the place where ‘dreams come true’ and every child’s fantasy.

However, although Disney is a fantastic holiday for children of all ages, what about us adults?  Don’t be fooled – we don’t all have to have children just so we have an excuse to visit Disney!  Disney can be as much fun for adults as it is for kids.  So the plans are in motion.  You have decided as two adults to visit Walt Disney World in Florida the following year.   So let me give you some words of wisdom (from a couple who have embraced the world of Disney without children)! Can we really have long-haul without Jetlag?

In today’s travel friendly world, long-haul has become part of our vocabulary.  We get on long-haul flights for business, for pleasure, for once in a life time holidays and for our regular trips once a year as part of our vacation.  However with it, comes another word, also well known now – JETLAG!   Jetlag is a  physiological condition which results from alterations to the body’s circadian rhythms. Jetlag results from rapid long-distance trans-meridian (east-west or west-east) travel, as on a jet plane. So how can we avoid this major side affect to what is otherwise a great thing in the 21st Century? Continue reading "Can we really have long-haul without Jetlag?" »

Let’s Eat!

While on holiday, we often spend a huge amount of our vacation time in cafes, restaurants and on other food related activities.  There is something so special about the food in other countries and it is usually our first experience of the country and it’s culture.  You can tell so much about a country from its restaurants, dining rituals and it’s cuisine!

Whilst on holiday we happened to find a gem of a restaurant.  It opened it’s doors in 1976 and has had the same menu ever since.  It is extremely small, seating no more than 20 people and on busy evenings you may have to wait hours on a table.  So where is this fabulous restaurant, that has you literally wishing you were back in that county? Continue reading "Let’s Eat!" »
